Favorite Book for the Month of August

My favorite book for the month of August is "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. This is a beautiful book which is extremely well written. Easy to read and one of those books that is able to captivate the readers interest. This book brings into focus the hardship faced by those in Afghanistan over the years, especially women. The book talks about loss, unimaginably grief, death and despair, but even when faced with these terrible circumstances the characters in the book are able to overcome these hardships and find a way go on with their lives. This book highlights the importance of friendship, enduring love, kindness and the ability of the human spirit to eventually triumph. This is a book which will make you feel grateful for all that you have been blessed with in comparison to the people in Afghanistan. Definitely worth a read.

Experience

I’ve learnt that there is a subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, I now know that kisses aren't contracts, and presents aren't promises, and even sunshine burns if you get too much !

Photographs

Pictures are what we have left when time has taken everything else from us.

Perceptions

Our perceptions are always colored by what we hope, what we fear and what we love.
-Paraphrased from "Bones"

Love

Real love is feeling like being a part of that person's life almost isn't enough. It's more like a feeling that you would live in the same skin with them if you could and share every thought, heart beat, and emotion as one.

Enlightenment

Enlightenment is not imagining figures of light but making the darkness conscious.

Heart Break

All last summer in case you dont recall,
I was yours and you were mine forget it all,
Is there a line that I could write,
Sad enough to make you cry,
All the lines you wrote to me were lies,
The months roll past the love that you struck dead,
Did you love me only in my head?
Things you said and did to me,
Seemed to come so easily,
The love I thought I'd won,
You give for free.......

Desire

Too often, the thing you want most is the one thing you can't have. Desire leaves us heartbroken, it wears us out. Desire can wreck your life. But as tough as wanting something can be; The people who suffer the most, are those who don't know what they want.

History

Our history resurfaces time after time after time. So we have to remember sometimes that the most important history is the history we're making today.

Plans

The thing about plans is that they usually don't take into account the unexpected, so when we're hit with unforseen circumstances in life, we have to improvise. Of course, some of us are better at it than others. Some people just move on to plan B, and make the most of it. And sometimes what we want is exactly what we need. But sometimes, sometimes what we need is a new plan.

Relationships

They say that you don’t kick the habit until you hit rock bottom, but how do you know when you’re there? Because no matter how badly a thing is hurting us, sometimes letting it go hurts even worse.

Defeat

No matter how hard you fight it, some times you fall. And it's scary as hell. Except there's an upside to the free fall. It's the chance you give your friends to catch you.

Sanity

Don't wonder why people go crazy. Wonder why they don't. In face of what we can lose in a day, in an instant, wonder what the hell it is that make us hold it together.

Delusions

No man is happy without a delusion of some kind. Delusions are as necessary to our happiness as realities.
